This Week In Development

Filed under: General — boo @ 1:57 pm

Here’s a breakdown of what our busy developers have been working on lately.

  • CPanel 11 Support Finished. Mike was finally able to wrap up the update to Ubersmith to add support for Cpanel 11’s api changes. I’m not certain yet if this will be released as a patch to the current release or will just be included in our next update. We will of course post it here when available.
  • Added Support for the CyberSource Credit Card Gateway
  • Added a Driver to Ubersmith DE for the Weather Goose II Environmental Unit
  • Added Support for the Celsius and Kelvin Temperature Scales in Ubersmith DE. If anyone is worried their datacenters are reaching absolute zero, you’ll be glad we added this feature.

And my personal favorite….

  • This week we’ve made giant steps forward for Built in Invoice PDF Generation. I, like many of you, i’m sure, will be glad to kiss our old busted htmldoc generated pdf invoices good bye. Dan has had his nose to the grindstone making Ubersmith able to render its own pdf formatted invoices. If they let me, I will try and get an example one posted here so you can see what they’re going to look like.

That’s just some of the exciting stuff we’ve been working on lately. There’ll be plenty more to talk about later. Thanks for reading.

People in this industry constantly ask ‘how can I compete with the big guys?’ If you go and check out the ‘Running a Web Hosting Business’ forum on WHT right now, you’ll probably find a couple threads asking this very question on the first page. Well, I’m going to tell you how you can compete with those guys and how you can get more clients who pay more per month and I’ll tell you how you can keep them happy.

It’s 6pm on Friday. Do you know where your developers are?

Filed under: General — boo @ 5:08 pm

I thought I would post something that I’m going to try and make a regular feature. I wanted to give everyone a list of the stuff that our hard working developers have been putting together this week.

  • Improving the ‘charge delay.’ We’ve been making it smarter to work better with the variable number of days in different months. We’ve expanded the option to allow you to set it to charge immediately, on its due date or after the usual number of days specified.
  • Further progress on our expanded domain name integration. We’re improving our domain name management features considerably. This week in particular we were working on improving the invoice code so that it can pre-bill for upcoming domain renewals. The end goal is to have the system be able to automatically renew or not renew domains based on whether payment was received in time or not.
